Information for families

Changetree is the name of a new service for children and families started by Family Therapist Hannah Sherbersky and Dramatherapist/ Psychotherapist Martin Gill.

We started Changetree because we are aware of the impact that changes of the next few years will have on families.

We’ve been working with children, teachers and parents for the past ten years as part of mainstream education and NHS services. Many families struggle trying to make sense of problems that occur, for example when one of the children‘s behaviour becomes problematic or when one of the partners in the relationship starts to withdraw or feels misunderstood. This can have a cumulative effect on everyone in the family and this is the time to ask for help rather than allow feelings to be pushed down. Family stress can have an effect on children’s wellbeing and academic achievement too. Parents going through a divorce or an illness or death in the family can also have a huge impact.

Martin, who has worked as a child and adolescent psychotherapist for the past twenty years, says that children have an innate ability to discover meaning and resolution through drama and play. This allows them to restore their wellbeing quite quickly even when problems in the family appear insurmountable.

Changetree offers consultation, long and short term family therapy and dramatherapy, individual therapy, clinical supervision and training. We have experience and expertise with the following difficulties:
