Child/Adolescent psychotherapy – Adult psychotherapy – Training – Supervision

I am an accredited Family and Systemic Psychotherapist (UKCP reg) with 18 years experience working within the mental health service, intially as a registered mental health nurse, a community psychiatric nurse and more recently as a Family and Systemic Psychotherapist working within the child and adolescent mental health service in Devon.

Children and young people - I am passionately committed to the delivery of excellent therapeutic services to children, young people and their families. I have extensive additional training in Child Protection, Group Analysis and Dramatherapy, and a sound working knowledge of evidence based practice. I use an integrated approach with the children, families and couples that I work with; drawing on a number of different modalities.
Couple Therapy - I work part-time as a therapist in an innovative research-based couple clinic developing a treatment for depression in the Mood Disorders Centre, Exeter University and use many of these ideas in my private practice with couples.
Teaching and Supervision - I am one of the course leaders for the MSc in Psychological Therapies (the qualifying Family Therapy training) at Exeter University and am a visiting lecturer on the Clinical Psychology Doctorate training. I have completed a diploma in Creative Supervision through London Centre for Psychodrama and offer systemic and creative supervision to clinicians and groups.

Child/Adolescent psychotherapy – Adult psychotherapy – Training – Supervision

I am UK registered child and adult Psychotherapist with over 27 years experience with a range of clients including those with mild depression or anxiety, people with relationship problems, those with more complex layered issues including bereavement, addictions, self-esteem problems abuse and trauma survival.

I’m from a ‘Humanistic’ school of practice, which for me means that I believe each of us has the ability to discover a healthy solution to alleviate or solve entrenched or temporary problems we sometimes find ourselves lost in.

I work at a client’s own pace and encourage insight and expression through creative action-methods. (Dramatherapy and Psychodrama) Again these methods are only used when appropriate and at a pace and level that clients are comfortable with.

  • Anger management and expression
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Conflict resolution
  • Non-violent Communication
  • Stress and burn out

I train other therapists through my work at Plymouth and Worcester Universities and I also run a clinical supervision practice in Bath and Exeter.
